Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting Julie L. Parisi from MUNCH at IT University of Copenhagen for a two-day creative session with the artists behind the upcoming MUNCH production for XTREME.

The MUNCH in Oslo is a musem dedicated to the life and works of the renowned Norwegian artist Edvard Munch. Originally opened in 1963, the museum moved to its iconic Bjørvika location in 2021. The stunning 13-floor modern building is designed to deliver unique art experiences, boasting 11 galleries, over 200 works of Munch on permanent display, 4,500 square meters of gallery space, as well as concert halls, a cinema, and event venues—a true cultural landmark for the City of Oslo.

Within the XTREME project, MUNCH serves as the stage for an ambitious audio-visual performance use case, developed in collaboration with externally commissioned artists. The artists’s names are still a secret, to be revealed soon!

During the visit, we began shaping the concept for this groundbreaking immersive experience.

This production will unfold in two exciting phases:

  • The first iteration, premiering in Autumn 2025, will showcase the initial creative vision and cutting-edge spatial sound design.
  • The second iteration, planned for Spring 2026, will refine and expand on the original concept, introducing new artistic elements and pushing the boundaries of immersive storytelling even further.

The visit was hosted by Justyna Starostka and Christian Sivertsen from ITU, who facilitated the visit. We’re thrilled about the collaboration and can’t wait to share more updates soon!
