🎧 Exciting XTREME update from Copenhagen: the Spatial Sound Lab Open Day at ITU!

On Friday, 11th of April 2025, the XTREME ITU’s team welcomed nearly 60 curious minds — students, researchers, artists, and technologists — to explore the immersive world of 4DSOUND in our XTREME Spatial Sound studio. Spread across four fully booked demo sessions, the event offered a rare chance to experience how spatial audio can transform our relationship with sound, space, and storytelling.

As part of the XTREME Horizon Europe project, we’ve established a cutting-edge 4DSOUND studio at ITU, equipped with a 24-speaker configuration designed for research and experimentation in spatial audio and mixed reality (MR). Throughout the day, we presented recent developments from the XTREME project and sparked conversations about the future possibilities of MR technology.

Danish composer and sound artist Oscar Friisgaard presented an exclusive spatial demo composition created specifically for the event — a sonic journey that immersed participants in a dynamic 3D soundscape using classical pieces, as well as modern compositions.

The day wrapped up with drinks, snacks, and great conversations — a moment to reflect, connect, and dream up new possibilities.

We’re grateful for the amazing turnout, the inspiring questions, and the vibrant energy you all brought. This was just the beginning — the lab is open, the speakers are on, and the exploration of sound and space continues!
