This week, part of the XTREME project team gathered at MUNCH for an inspiring two-day workshop. The aim of the workshop was to advance the initial ideas for the MR (mixed reality) experiences that will be developed in the MUNCH museum within the XTREME – Mixed Reality Environment for Immersive Experience of Art and Culture EU Horizon project.

During day 1 we explored the context of the collaboration:
🌟 Sami Brandt presented the vision and requirements of the XTREME project,
🌟 Maria Høeberg Madsen talked about the intersection of MR and art,
🌟 Birgitte Aga and Nikita Mathias presented the vision of MUNCH, user groups, and examples of different artistic exhibitions targeted at the younger audience.

In the second part of the day Poul Holleman from 4DSOUND showed us how powerful spacial sound is, Khora Virtual Reality showcased the “Garden Alchemy” VR artwork, and Yannis Parcharidis from Bolt Virtual together with University of Nottingham and Ane Skak showed MR demos and the Apple Vision Pro.

Day 2 started with exchanging experiences of successful artist collaborations. After the discussion, four initial concepts for the experiences have been developed in a group work exercise. We finished the day with a discussion about the timeline, roles, and responsibilities, and, most importantly, with a shortlist of potential artists that we are considering for the commission.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to the workshop, but special appreciation to the MUNCH team: Birgitte Aga, Nikita Mathias, Julie L. Parisi, and Awo Abdulqadir for hosting us at MUNCH.

Big thanks also to Justyna Starostka and Christian Sivertsen from IT-Universitetet i København who have prepared and facilitated the workshop.

Stay tuned for more updates on the MUNCH case! 👓
