From 8–10 December, XTREME – Mixed Reality Environment for Immersive Experience of Art and Culture participated in UnitedXR Europe 2025 in Brussels, a key European event bringing together researchers, artists, technologists, industry representatives, and policymakers working across extended and mixed reality. The event provided an important platform for exchange on current developments, challenges, and future directions of XR in culture, heritage, and creative industries.

XTREME was represented by Justyna Starostka, Project Manager at IT-Universitetet i København (ITU), who delivered a keynote presentation and participated in the panel discussion “Resurrecting the Past – Immersive Heritage: Turning Archives and Oral Traditions into Living Experiences.” Her contributions focused on XTREME’s mixed reality experiences developed in collaboration with the project partner Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, which activate cultural archives and oral traditions. This included reflections on recent explorations using Apple Vision Pro headsets.

The XTREME delegation also included Lucas Katsikaris, XTREME’s Exploitation Manager from Bolt Virtual, contributing perspectives on dissemination, exploitation, and cross-sector collaboration within the European XR ecosystem, including discussions with potential users and stakeholders for the XTREME solutions.

XTREME extends its sincere thanks to Geraldine Bueken for curating the session and to Foteini Venieri for moderating the panel. Also a warm thank you to Fabien Barati, Co-founder and CEO of Excurio, who joined the panel alongside Justyna Starostka.

Thank you all for the inspiring discussions and demonstrations. It was a true pleasure to witness the growing state of XR and to experience demos of current productions. See you at UnitedXR 2026!
