The Institute of Information Processing (TNT) at Leibniz University Hannover (LUH) invited students, researchers, and members of the public to an Open House event at its laboratory facilities on Appelstraße 9A (13th floor) in Hannover. The occasion offered about 50 visitors an inside look at the institute’s research environment and a chance to interact directly with 20 researchers behind current projects showcasing 9 demonstrators.

Held on Monday, 17 November 2025, the event began at 15:00 and transitioned into an informal networking session with food and refreshments from 17:00 onwards. The open and welcoming atmosphere encouraged conversation, knowledge exchange, and new connections across disciplinary and institutional boundaries.

Visitor highlights

  • Interactive motion capture and scene graph analysis showcase: XTREME was featured through Tom Wehrbein, Yi Yang, and Hendrik Hachmann. Multiple live demonstrations displayed motion capture capabilities, illustrated by a real-time face tracker and body tracker accompanied by slides and posters showing current application-oriented use within XTREME. In addition, a time-consistent semantic scene graph estimation was demonstrated.
  • Direct exchange with researchers: Attendees engaged with LUH scientific staff to discuss technical aspects, ongoing developments, and potential use cases of XTREME.
  • Informal networking opportunities: The Open House format facilitated conversations with prospective students, collaborators, and external guests, extending into follow-up discussions over pizza and drinks.

Importance for XTREME

Participation in the LUH Open House supported XTREME’s goals of outreach, transparency, and community building. By opening the laboratory space and demonstrating motion capture and scene graph analysis technology tangibly and engagingly, the event helped to:

  • Increase visibility of XTREME’s technological capabilities,
  • Connect with potential users and early-career researchers,
  • Communicate research directions and opportunities for future collaboration.

XTREME extends its appreciation to the team at the Institute of Information Processing (TNT) for hosting the Open House and for their enthusiastic interaction with visitors throughout the event.
