📸 Highlights from Research Week 2025 at University of Limerick!

Last week XTREME Irish partner proudly represented XTREME at the University of Limerick’s Research Week event. Living Lab Principal Investigator Associate Professor MairtĂn Cunneen hosted a session highlighting the XTREME Living Lab’s contributions to the XTREME project. The event began with MairtĂn introducing the UL-based Living Lab and its cross-faculty team of researchers, who showcased how AI and MR can be used ethically to support cultural access while respecting artists with insights from across technology, law, health, and the arts.

We were also joined by Paul Tennent (University of Nottingham) who presented on XTREME’s project Irish World Academy of Music and Dance mixed reality production.

The panel featured a group of interdisciplinary researchers:
👥 Associate Professor Mairtín Cunneen – Principal Investigator, UL Living Lab
🎧 Associate Professor Paul Tennent – University of Nottingham
⚖️ Professor Raymond Friel – AHSS Law
🧠 Professor Amanda Clifford – EHS and Physiotherapy
🎵 Professor Helen Phelan – Director of the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance
🎻 Dr Simon Thompson – Head of Education, Irish Chamber Orchestra
📚 Dr. Ruhi Anand – Postdoctoral Researcher, Living Lab

Huge thanks to all who attended, engaged with the discussion, and helped us reflect on what responsible, interdisciplinary research in XR can look like.
